The Northeastern Center will award a $750 scholarship to an area student seeking a career in a mental health profession.
To qualify, the student must be a college-bound senior planning a future career in mental health. This could include a career in counseling, social work, or medicine. Entrance is limited to students from Noble, DeKalb, Steuben, & LaGrange counties in Indiana. Employees and family members of Northeastern Center are ineligible to participate in this contest.

The student’s essay of 1,000 words or less should focus on one or both of the following themes:
“What in my life has motivated me to pursue a career in mental health?”
“How I plan to contribute to the future of mental health.”
Essays should be typed and double-spaced.
Members of Northeastern Center’s staff will judge the entries and decide on the $750 scholarship winner. Essays will be judged in three areas:
- Content
- Creativity / Originality
- and Spelling / Grammar / Punctuation
Entry Deadline
All entries must be postmarked by April 7, 2023.
From all entries received, one student will be chosen to receive the $750 Jane George Scholarship. The winner will be notified in May, 2023.
