Rides for your recovery

NEC Connect is a free transportation service for individuals in recovery. Access to consistent transportation is shown to:

  • Improve outcomes through attendance and successful completion recovery programs.
  • Reduce recidivism, which is the likelihood that convicted individuals will reoffend.

Who can get a ride?

NEC Connect is currently funded through a partnership with DeKalb County and the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction, using Opioid Settlement Funds. Based on the grant requirements, all riders must meet both of the criteria below:

1. Self-identify as having substance use disorder, which can include addiction to:

  • Tobacco.
  • Alcohol.
  • Other substances

2. Have an affiliation with DeKalb County, which includes those who:

  • Live or work in the county.
  • Are on probation or involved with the court system in the county.
  • Receive services in the county.
  • Are currently unhoused, with last known residence in the county.

When and where?

Rides are available Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. NEC Connect can transport riders anywhere (within Indiana) that supports recovery, such as: therapy, doctor’s office, probation office or court, work, grocery store, and more!

How do you schedule?

Call 260-925-8657 at least 24 hours in advance. Please note: Rides are scheduled and not guaranteed because NEC Connect may occasionally cancel due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. It is recommended that all riders have a backup plan.

Other transportation resources

If you don’t qualify for NEC Connect, other transportation options may be available. Current Northeastern Center clients can talk to their case facilitator about transportation options. Or, check our guide for a list of community transportation resources.
