KENDALLVILLE, Ind. – Northeastern Center has awarded the 2026 Jane George Scholarship to Ella Walter, a recent graduate of East Noble High School.
The $750 scholarship is in memory of Jane George, a nurse case manager who worked at Northeastern Center for more than seven years before passing away from cancer in October of 2002. The award is given annually to a student planning a future career in mental health.
In the fall, Walter plans to attend Johnson University and will study psychology.
In her essay, Walter wrote, “I am pursuing a career in mental health so I can provide clarity, create a safe place for others, and use my testimony to help people feel seen and heard. My personal experiences with anxiety have given me empathy, understanding, and a passion for helping others. I believe I can make a meaningful contribution to the mental health field by breaking stigma and encouraging healing.”
