NORTHEASTERN CENTER HOSTED SUCCESSFUL RIBBON CUTTING AND OPEN HOUSE FOR NEW FACILITY IN DEKALB COUNTY

Northeastern Center (NEC) hosted an open house and ribbon cutting at their newest facility, The Community Health & Outreach Center (CHOC), in Auburn, IN this past Friday. NEC invited the community to come and tour the new facility and learn more about the programs to be offered there. The DeKalb Chamber Partnership coordinated the ribbon cutting and various community leaders and members were in attendance. Auburn Mayor, Mike Ley, said a few words and did NEC the honor of cutting the ribbon on the new building.

The goal of the CHOC is to help Northeastern Center be more versatile and available in serving the community. The Outreach Center has a designated space for the Northeastern Center Emergency Solutions team who are available 24/7 for mental health emergencies via 800-790-0118. This designated space will help make them more accessible to serve the community. The new facility will also house a new Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team that the Northeastern Center is building to work with high-needs/at-risk adults to help them maintain stability and function in the community. Northeastern Center is working to develop other services it would like to provide to the community and is excited to share those as they develop. This facility is the first of its kind in the area and NEC is excited to bring these services to the surrounding communities.

The Northeastern Center was awarded a $3.5 million dollar grant from the state earlier this year to help facilitate the new programs to be housed in the Outreach Center. This grant will not only help in bringing additional services and mental health care to the people in our communities, it will also help to create dozens of new jobs at the newest facility and help to grow the community.

Northeastern Center, Inc. has been serving the people of DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble, and Steuben Counties for over 45 years. The agency’s mission is to help individuals achieve emotional and mental wholeness through accessible, affordable, and quality behavioral health services.
