Keeley Vaught, manager of Northeastern Center’s New Hope Clubhouse, highlights the impacts the program has on our local communities and how important it is for those living with mental illness.

What is New Hope Clubhouse?

New Hope Clubhouse is a part of the Northeastern Center, and it is a program for adults dealing with mental illness. The program helps these individuals in learning activities of daily living as well as job skills to hopefully help them gain and maintain independence.

New Hope Clubhouse is accredited by Clubhouse International, which has over 380 clubhouses worldwide. New Hope Clubhouse itself was started in 1990 and has a long-standing reputation within our local community.

How does New Hope Clubhouse work to break the stigma surrounding mental illness?

New Hope Clubhouse works year-round to lower the stigma surrounding mental illness, something many people just may not fully understand. By shedding light on mental illness through social media, their annual Stomp Out the Stigma 5k, and by interacting with the community, New Hope Clubhouse works toward helping everyone understand mental illness and decreasing the stigma surrounding it.

What is Stomp out the Stigma?

Stomp out the Stigma is New Hope Clubhouse’s annual 5k run/walk. Taking place on Sept. 12 at Bixler Lake Park in Kendallville, Indiana, this year will be the 14th year of the event, which raises money to support the New Hope Clubhouse program. Anyone who is interested in participating can visit the Stomp Out the Stigma page for more information about how you can both sponsor and participate in the run.
